Training

We understand that all dogs are different, this is why none of our courses have a time limit. Your dog will be trained until it completes the level of its course – remember you are paying for results not number of lessons.

Once your dog has passed the course, you are welcome to keep training free of charge once a month for the rest of your dog’s life to maintain the same level of training.

  • What is PAT testing for service dogs?

PAT (Public Access Test) is an assessment that ensures service dogs behave safely and reliably in public. It evaluates how a dog responds to distractions, follows commands, and remains calm around people, other animals and noises. Passing PAT testing confirms that both the dog and handler are ready for real-world assistance roles.

  • How long does service dog training take?

There’s no set time frame—it depends on your dog’s age, breed, and current obedience level. Some dogs progress quickly, while others need more time to build confidence and consistency. At Amanda’s Professional K9 Training, we focus on lasting results, not deadlines.

  • Can any dog become a service dog?

Not every dog is suited to service work, but many can learn. During an initial assessment, the trainer evaluates your dog’s temperament, socialisation, and responsiveness to determine whether they’re a good candidate for service training.

  • What happens after my dog completes the program?

After your dog passes the required level and PAT test, you can continue attending free monthly maintenance sessions. These refresher lessons help reinforce your dog’s skills and ensure they remain focused and dependable for years to come.
